THE AMERICAN CLUB OF MADRID
This 2-hour walking tour of Madrid seeks to reveal the historical traces of African and Afro-descendent presence in Madrid and the Iberian Peninsula. It addresses issues including the Moorish legacy in Madrid, and the effects and consequences of colonization. It explores how enslaved people and the Black diaspora have contributed to the urban, cultural, and social fabric of Madrid. It showcases emblematic locations in Madrid where it is still possible to observe physical and symbolic traces of the slave trade and African heritage.
The tour will meet and begin (at 11:30 sharp!) at Plaza de Isabel II (Metro Opera) and end at Puerta del Sol.
The tour will be guided by www.afroiberica.com

We had so much fun last year we're gonna makes valentines with pie again this year - yum!
Join us for an evening of crafting your own personal valentine for that special someone(s)! :)
Craft supplies, pie, and tea/coffee/juice included.
We made it through January but we’re still not ready for outdoor sports… so we’re going bowling!
ACM has rented out 5 lanes at Chamartin Bowling (upstairs in the Chamartin train station), for two hours for a little bit of (maybe competitive) fun .
Our limit is 30 players (six per lane): this is 24 ACM friends & family (members & non-members), and members of the U.S. Marines (as our guests) to top off the group. Players will be assigned to lanes as they arrive, with 1-2 Marines joining each lane. It’s a very good idea to arrive around 6:45pm so we can start by 7pm.
Ticket price includes:
Additional food, beverage, and games (bowling and arcade) available for purchase. Unfortunately no discount for younger players.
Bowling friends who just wanna hang out and cheer on the teams (but not play) are welcome to come – no ticket necessary.
Why the Marines? Did you know that the U.S. Marines guard the U.S. embassies worldwide? For many of them this is just the beginning of their career, their first or second posting.. so they also wanna get out, meet some friendly faces, and have some fun in Madrid!
Join us and show off your old school – or granny – bowling moves!
Address: Estacion de Chamartín, S/N, Zona Ático (1ªplanta) 28036 Madrid, España
